Assuming that's what the upcoming 2D Mario platformer will be called? I'm wondering this because while New Super Mario Bros Wii had both of them, Galaxy 2 still only had Bowser Jr for whatever reason and weirdly Super Mario 3D Land had neither.
Heck, might it even be possible for Boom Boom to make an unexpected return after his Super Mario 3D Land reappearance?

Boom Boom - Generic Fortresses
Koopalings including Bowser Jr. - Main Castle of each world (or Airships)

with Addition of:
Kamek - supports the Koopalings. Edit: Oh wait Kamek was a boss as well.
^ Yeah some thing like that should be good. Same basis they used for New Super Mario Bros. Wii with Boom Boom this time being the boss of generic fortresses.

I would like to see Bowser Jr. with some cool machines like in Galaxy, which can make some interesting boss fights.

'New Super Mario Bros Wii' and 'Super Mario 3D Land'. Those names alone should tell you they go for the easy option title wise.

I sure hope not! Being the bosses in 3 of the 6 main 2D mario games is enough for me.
Unless they were fortress bosses only, then bring them on

There's nothing stopping the game having the Koopalings, Bowser Jr, Boom Boom, Kamek, etc and not having varied bosses. Just have them as tower/fortress/airship bosses and use the castles for all new more interesting opponents.

I'd prefer if the Koopalings and Bowser Jr. stayed as the bosses on the main castles, but each one with a different kind of battle strategy, and new bosses for the fortress.
